BJD for formation of Federal Front
Asked to elaborate, Mahtab said, "Federal front which recognises the view of every state and state leadership. Any party which supports the federal character of the country will be part of the front." He said currently more powers are vested in the Union Government. Whether Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will lead the Front, he said, "That can be said only by Naveen Patnaik himself. But we have not reached that stage. There are certain parties for early polls and there are also some parties who are not in favour of early polls." About his party`s view on early Lok Sabha polls, he said "We have not discussed it yet. Let the government fall first."
CPI leader D Raja said that the "government`s position has become very weak and vulnerable. Government suffers from loss of moral authority. That is why there is a talk of early elections or mid-term polls. Let us wait." BJP leader Mukthar Abbas Naqvi, however, said, "Mid-term chances are there…circumstances are likley for it. Even today`s President speech looks like a farewell speech." Ruling out the chances of mid-term polls, RLD leader Jayant Chaudhury said, "It`s a stable government and there is no question of mid-term polls."
