Erode (TN): Unidentified miscreants made an attempt to loot a nationalised bank branch in the district in the wee hours of today but aborted it after breaking a lock on the main door, police said.
The miscreants managed break one of the two locks on the main door of Canara bank`s branch at Kallipatty after disconnecting the power supply to the building.
However, they could not break open the door and might have left the place on noticing night movement of patrol police or passersby in the vicinity of the bank, police said. On a complaint by the branch manager of the bank, police were investigating.
