Bhawanipatna: The manager of Allahabad Bank`s branch here was on Thursday arrested by CBI sleuths while allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 30,000 from a businessman, the police said.

The accused allegedly demanded the amount from T K Lal for releasing an amount of Rs 25 lakh industrial loan sanctioned in his favour, they said.

Lal of Dadpur was selected by the district industries centre (DIC) to avail a loan of Rs 25 lakh under Pradhan Mantri Employment Guarantee Programme (PMEGP) last year.

However, he had been running from pillar to post for getting the loan money.

Unable to get his loan amount, Lal contacted CBI and informed about the demands made by the bank`s manager.

A trap was laid and a six-member CBI team led by DSP Dipak Kabi, seized Rs 30,000 in the bank manger`s possession.
