Ludhiana: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Amarinder Singh today said the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was the prisoner of an archaic mindset.

"For last forty years Badal has been saying just same three things, federalism, focal points and Adarsh schools time and again," the former Punjab Chief Minister told reporters.

Calling Badal the "prisoner of an archaic mindset," he said the Chief Minister`s outdated ideas had led to Punjab being listed among backward states in the country.

However, Badal doesn`t talk about things like federalism or more powers to states when the alliance he is a part of is in power at the Centre, he said.

"Thanks to the poor vision and gross mismanagement of this government, grants worth Rs 3600 crore provided by the central government for various schemes had lapsed," Singh alleged.

To a question on alleged factionalism within the Congress, Singh denied the claims, saying the "entire rank and file was united" and added that difference of opinion should not be mistaken for factionalism.

Singh was here to make an appearance before the District and Sessions Court in connection with the hearing of the Ludhiana City Centre case.
