Haridwar: Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday had an hour-long back-room talks with yoga guru Ramdev here after which she said he would not break his fast.

Emerging from the talks, Swaraj told reporters that "I have come here to support Baba.... I have told him that he has the support of not only the Sangh Parivar but of the whole nation."

Asked if there were indications of calling off the yoga guru`s fast, "Ramdev said he was fasting and it can be broken when all his demands are met. None of the demands has been accepted by the government. Why should I break the fast? What about all my demands I have been raising?" Swaraj quoted the yoga guru as telling her.

Swaraj said the government has taken "baby steps" to deal with corruption.

"We have told them about our demands. Earlier they did not ratify United Nations Convention to fight corruption. It was only when we told them that they did it. It is all a baby step," she said.

Referring to the police action against Ramdev and his followers in Delhi, she said the government has "lost its balance. There are no checks and balances. The Centre has sent four ministers for dialogue with Baba but to beat innocent people they sent 5,000 policemen".

Meanwhile, senior VHP leader Ashok Singhal also met Ramdev extending his support to the yoga guru.
