Berhampur (Odisha): Unidentified armed miscreants looted gold and silver ornaments from a jewellery shop in Ganjam district after attacking the shop owner.

The owner sustained injuries and was undergoing treatment at the local hospital after the attack on Thursday, police said quoting a delayed report.

The exact quantity of jewelleries looted from the shop was yet to be ascertained, said sub divisional police officer (SDPO), Bhanajanagar SC Jamadar.

At least six armed persons barged into the jewellery shop and damaged the show-cases in the shop before they decamped with the jewelleries, police said. The miscreants also fired in the air outside the shop to terrorise the people.
