Mumbai: Designer Archana Kochhar`s Indo-Western collection, which will be showcased at the forthcoming Lakme Fashion Week, has drawn inspiration from dancing puppets and vibrant colours of Rajasthan.

At the LFW summer/resort show beginning tomorrow, Archana`s fusion designs will make a splash on March 6. "I am showcasing a resort wear collection called `Kathputli Kathak` inspired from Rajasthan. As the name suggests, Kathputli Kathak is a dancing puppet, paramount in that state. I wanted to work with silhouettes, which were western and global in their outlook and India`s rich culture is an inspiration for designers like us," Archana told PTI.

"The collection is very international yet maintains the essence of our rich Indian culture and heritage of Rajasthan. Kathputli Kathak line is a fusion between Indian and Western attires," she claimed.

The collection is a fusion of Indian and western attires. "The silhouettes comprise kaftans, tunics, which are light weight and flared, floor length shirt anarkalis and harems with kurtas. We have used a lot of white and beige, which is colour-blocked with neon colours of electric blue, fuchsia pink, lime green and bring yellow," Archana said.

The collection has a splendid blend of fabrics ranging from raw silk, tussar silk, Georgette, Colorado Lycra, cotton and crape. The garments are embellished and adorned with colourful wool work.

Bollywood glitterati including Kangana Ranaut, Ayesha Takia, Soha Ali Khan, Zeenat Aman, Dia Mirza, Minisha Lamba, Jacqueline Fernandez, Prachi Desai have been styled by Archana.

"I have invited quite a few celebrities, who would be wearing my collection and sitting in the front row. With the presence of celebs on ramp, it does help us in reaching to a wider range of clientele," Archana said.
