(image) Bhubaneswar: Armed Police Reserve (APR) jawan committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Nuapada on Sunday.
The jawan has been identified as Nilakantha Sahu of Badi village under Khariar block in Nuapada.
The incident took place during the wee hours on Monday, when Sahu returned from his duty and shot himself in his residence.
According to reports, Sahu had not returned his service rifle after his duty as it was late in the night and the district armory was 2 Kms away from his residence. Later he committed suicide with the rifle.
After hearing gunshot, his colleagues rushed and found him dead and later informed the police.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), other senior police official reached the spot and have begun their investigation. Though the reason of the suicide is yet to be ascertained.
