Two Bojhia sevayats (servitors who carry Mahaprasad in Puri Srimandir) on Saturday suffered burn injuries after hot dal spilled on them while they were carrying Mahaprasad atop their heads.
The injured servitors have been identified as Pradeep Kumar Sahu, a resident of Brahmagiri, and Papi Pradhan of Talajang area. The incident happened when the said servitors were coming out of the Bhoga Mandap.
The temple administration immediately shifted the injured servitor duo to the Sadar hospital.
According to a source, most of the time, the road in front of the Bhoga Mandap is slippery. While coming out of the Bhoga Mandap, Pradeep and Papi slipped and they fell on the ground. As a result, the hot dal they were carrying spilled on them, leaving them injured.
Such incidents of Bojhia servitors suffering injuries while carrying Mahaprasad atop their heads are not new in the Srimandir. In the past, several such incidents were reported as well.
“Since the path in front of the Bhoga Mandap is slippery, we are very careful while crossing the stretch with Mahaprasad atop our heads. So far, many such incidents have been reported,” said president, Bojha Bahak Sangha of Srimandir, Rohit Das.
