Man dies after being hit by BDO’s vehicle in Odisha

While the police have seized the vehicle and detained the driver, tension prevailed at the spot after the BDO, who was inside the vehicle at the time of mishap, allegedly did not stop and fled from the spot.

A 50-year-old man died after the two-wheeler he was riding was allegedly hit by Mohana BDO’s vehicle near Podani chhak in Jajpur village under Paralakhemundi police limits of Gajapati district on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as T Prabhakar who hailed from Satamail village in the vicinity.

While the police have seized the vehicle and detained the driver, tension prevailed at the spot after the BDO, who was inside the vehicle at the time of mishap, allegedly did not stop and fled from the spot.

The police reached the spot after getting information from the locals and pacified them.

“Mohana BDO’s vehicle was involved in an accident while he was returning to Paralakhemundi this morning. The bike-rider died on the spot. We have shifted the body to the hospital and seized the vehicle and detained the driver,” said IIC of Paralakhemundi Police Station, Bibekananda Swain.

“Though the vehicle had fled the spot after hitting the bike, we seized it afterwards,” he added.

The police have launched a probe into the case.
