At least three passengers were killed while 20 others sustained critical injuries after the bus they were traveling in rammed into a truck on NH 18 near the Budikhamar area in Baripada early Saturday morning.
As per reports, the mishap occurred at around 5:30 am today. The bus was carrying around 23 tourists from Hyderabad. The impact of the collision was so hard that the front portion of the bus was completely damaged in the accident.
The tourist bus was en route to Gaya in Bihar, sources said.
Following the incident, all the injured have been admitted to hospital. The condition of some injured is said to be critical.
As per police, all the injured were rescued and rushed to the hospital after the road mishap.
"We got information about the accident in the morning. After rushing to the spot, we rescued the passengers and shifted them to the hospital. It is suspected that the accident occurred after the driver dozed off at the steering wheel," said a police official.
