As many as 20 passengers on board a bus sustained injuries after their vehicle rammed into a truck in Bhadrak district on Wednesday morning.
According to sources, the bus, on its way to Bhubaneswar from Kolkata, met with the accident on National Highway-16 near Bhandaripokhari.
Reports said, the driver of the ill-fated bus lost control over the steering wheel before the vehicle banged against a stationary truck and overturned on the roadside. The collision was so strong that the entire front end of the bus has been completely decimated.
All the injured passengers have been admitted to Bhandaripokhari hospital, sources informed.
“We were sleeping when the accident took place. The bus overturned at around 3 am after hitting a truck. At least 15 to 20 passengers sustained injuries in the mishap. I sustained serious injuries on my legs,” narrated a passenger.
Earlier on Tuesday, more than 20 passengers were injured, two of them critically, after the bus they were travelling in overturned near Patarani Chhak in Banasingh area of Dhenkanal district.
The private bus, named Maa Samalei, was headed to Banasingh from Dhenkanal when it overturned after the driver reportedly lost control over the vehicle. There were around 40 passengers on board the bus at the time of the mishap.
