New Delhi: A 19-year-old youth has been sentenced to seven years in prison by a Delhi court for kidnapping and sodomising a nine-year-old boy.

Observing that the plight of the minor boy when he was subjected to "such a heinous act" can be imagined, Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Virender Bhat jailed Delhi resident Deepak, besides also imposing a fine of Rs 15,000 on him.

"One can very well imagine the plight of a minor boy of nine years age when he was being subjected to such a heinous act by the accused. He must have been trembling with fear during that time when the criminal act was being performed upon him by the accused," the judge added.

The prosecution had alleged that on February 26, 2011, the accused had kidnapped the minor boy and had sodomised him. The prosecution further said the victim, a class four boy was returning from his friend`s house after borrowing a Hindi copy to write down notes, when he was forcibly dragged to a deserted area in a park and sodomised.

The accused had denied the charges of kidnapping and sodomising a minor boy and had claimed trial. The counsel for the accused had told the court that his client was implicated in the case for slapping the alleged victim once for pelting a stone on his sister. The court, however, brushed aside the contention saying "I find the testimony of the victim absolutely credible and trustworthy."
