Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, local police on Friday arrested 11 mining mafias and seized 42 tonnes of iron ore in Bonai, Rourkela. Police initiated the search operation following repeated complaints of illegal mining and transporting of the mineral.

According to reports, Koeda police conducted a raid at Ganua and Kalamang forest and nabbed six and five mafias from the two areas respectively. This apart, the cops also seized 20 and 22 tonnes of iron ore from Ganua and Kalamang respectively during the search operation.
