The newly introduced Vande Bharat Sleeper train connecting Kamakhya and Howrah has received an enthusiastic response from passengers, with all tickets for its first day of commercial operations getting booked within hours of the reservation window opening.
According to officials, the ticket booking for the Vande Bharat Sleeper (Train No. 27576) opened on January 19 at 8 am through the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) and other authorised platforms. Within less than 24 hours, tickets across all classes were completely sold out, highlighting the strong public demand for the premium semi-high-speed service.
The maiden commercial run of the train is scheduled to begin on January 22 from Kamakhya and from January 23 from Howrah. The rapid sell-out reflects passengers’ eagerness to experience the speed, comfort and modern onboard amenities of the Vande Bharat Sleeper, which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister on January 17.
Railway officials said the response to the first commercial run underlines a growing preference among travellers for faster, safer and more comfortable rail travel options. The Kamakhya–Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper is expected to significantly improve connectivity between the Northeast and eastern India, while offering reduced travel time and a world-class overnight travel experience.
The swift booking of all available tickets within hours stands as a strong testament to the confidence and excitement of passengers in modern train services being introduced by Indian Railways, marking a new chapter in premium rail connectivity for the region.
