Prime Minister  Narendra Modi on Sunday hailed the Union Budget 2026-27 as a landmark budget, saying it mirrors the hopes and ambitions of 140 crore Indians while reinforcing the nation’s reform-driven growth path. He said the budget provides a clear and decisive roadmap towards achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat.

Describing the budget as a ‘highway of opportunities’, the Prime Minister noted that it injects fresh momentum into India’s ongoing reform journey and sets the stage for long-term, inclusive development. According to him, the proposals reflect the government’s commitment to building a strong, self-reliant, and globally competitive economy.

PM Modi also highlighted the empowered role of women in the country’s growth story, pointing out that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has created history by presenting the Union Budget for the ninth consecutive time. He said this in itself symbolises the growing leadership of women in national policymaking.

The Prime Minister further said the budget reflects trust-based governance and a people-centric economic approach, balancing higher capital expenditure with efforts to reduce the fiscal deficit and control inflation, thereby strengthening the foundations of India’s future growth.
