NIA
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has stepped up its investigation into the deadly suicide car bomb attack near Delhi’s Red Fort, taking Dr. Shaheen Saeed, who is one of the arrested accused, from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, to Faridabad, Haryana, for on-site questioning, sources said on Friday.
Shaheen is reportedly one of seven suspects arrested in connection with the November 10 blast that killed 15 people and injured several others.
Investigation and Suspects
The NIA reportedly believes Shaheen, along with the other arrested individuals, played a significant role in planning and executing the terror attack, prompting one of the most extensive counter-terror operations in recent months. On November 20, Shaheen was arrested along with Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ganai of Pulwama, Dr. Adeel Ahmed Rather of Anantnag, and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay of Shopian. They were taken into custody in Srinagar under production orders from the Patiala House Court.
Shaheen was brought to Faridabad to corroborate leads regarding a massive cache of explosives, nearly 2,900 kg, seized in the area before the attack. The Hyundai i20 used in the bombing was traced to a local dealer in Faridabad. Investigators are also probing Soyab, a Dhauj resident who allegedly sheltered the bomber Umar Un Nabi, and provided logistical support before the strike.
Ongoing Counter-Terror Efforts
The NIA has examined 73 witnesses, including those injured in the blast, and seized another vehicle belonging to Umar for forensic analysis. The agency continues to work closely with Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir police to identify and apprehend additional members of the terror network. Officials say efforts are underway to dismantle the module responsible for the deadly attack, with investigations continuing across multiple states.
The probe remains active, with authorities tracing the operational network behind the Red Fort bombing and pursuing all leads vigorously.
