Addressing the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2022, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavarj Bommai promised to build six new high-tech cities and a Start-Up Park within a period of six months.
The high-tech cities will be built in Hubbali, Dharwad, Mysore, Mangalore and Central Karnataka, including one near Bengaluru. The start-up park will be established near the Bengaluru airport and will be a hub for all aspiring entrepreneurs.
The Karnataka CM announced that these cities will promote science and technology and innovative ideas for the growth of the state. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had virtually inaugurated the summit.
During the virtual inauguration, the PM said that India is using technology as a weapon in the war against poverty.
Speaking on the occasion, Bommai said, “Bengaluru makes people think out of the box. We are known as a start-up city. Most successful startups started from Bengaluru. This is what makes it a futuristic city. So, we have decided to build six high-tech cities. We will launch a start-up park in the state which will ignite young minds to innovate and create employment. With this, Bengaluru can do anything.”
Earlier, on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly-designed Terminal-2 of the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru. The terminal has been nicknamed as 'Terminal in a garden' due to the extensive use of bamboo.
Built at a whopping cost of Rs 5,000 crore, the eco-friendly terminal will cater to 2.5 crore passengers annually.
On the other hand, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in the first week of November had assured that all potholes in the city would be filled by November 15.
However, the civic body has once again missed the deadline. Officials said rain in the city further delayed the work to fill the potholes. This has not gone well with netizens who slammed the civic body for negligence and intentional delay in the renovation work.
