Banking services are likely to get affected as the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) has decided to go ahead with its proposed bank strike on Saturday (November 19).
The AIBEA has called for the bank strike opposing the incessant outsourcing of jobs. “Discussions were held with IBA and various bank managements. Since there were no satisfactory developments warranting reconsideration of our strike, we have called upon all our units and members to go ahead with the strike,” an official release of AIBEA read.

AIBEA general secretary C H Venkatachalam said outsourcing of jobs by some banks are putting privacy of customers and their money at risk apart from reduction in recruitment at the lower level.
It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Labour Commissioner, Ministry of Labour has informed the association that another round conciliation meeting is likely to be held today. AIBEA, IBA, Ministry of Finance (DFS) and all the 11 bank managements are likely to participate in the meeting.
The other issues for which the bank strike has been called include - violation of bipartite settlement & I.D. Act, harassment of employees by transfers in violation of settlements and denial of wage revision in CSB Bank.
