The deceased include a man, his wife, and their three children. The incident came to light when villagers noticed that the family had not stepped out of their room for an unusually long time in the morning. Growing concerned, neighbours peeped through a window and were shocked to see all five family members lying motionless inside the room. The police were immediately informed.

Suspicion of Poisoning

Upon reaching the spot, police found glasses of milk placed near the bodies, raising suspicion that a poisonous substance may have been mixed with the milk. A forensic team was called to the scene to examine the room and collect evidence. While preliminary observations point towards the consumption of poison, officials said the exact cause and time of death will only be confirmed after post-mortem examinations.

"The mass suicide of five members of the same family has come to light. This was the family of one Manish (35), his 30-year-old wife and three children. Prime facie, this seems like a case of mass suicide. Manish had written on the wall that they are killing themselves of their own volition," said ADG Anupam Kulshreshtha.

"His diary has also been recovered, wherein he has mentioned that no one else should be held responsible for this. He has written that he is doing this after becoming tired of the problems he faces. Police are gathering all the evidence. Looking at all the evidence and Manish's own video on his mobile phone, further action will be taken...Postmortem will make everything clear...All angles will be investigated," she further added.

Investigation Underway

All five bodies have been sent to the district hospital for post-mortem. Senior police officers are questioning family members, relatives, and nearby residents to determine whether the family was facing financial difficulties, domestic tensions, or any other form of stress. Investigators are also examining the family’s recent activities and social circumstances.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the village, leaving residents stunned and grief-stricken. Police said a clearer picture will emerge once forensic reports and post-mortem findings are received, which will help determine the circumstances behind the tragic deaths.
