President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and several senior leaders cutting across party lines on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in the plane crash near Baramati.
In a message shared on social media, President Murmu described Pawar’s untimely demise as an irreparable loss to public life. She said he would be remembered for his significant contributions to Maharashtra’s development, particularly his role in strengthening the cooperative sector. The President extended her condolences to Pawar’s family, supporters and admirers, and also expressed sympathy for the families of others who lost their lives in the tragic accident, praying for strength and courage for the bereaved.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Pawar was widely regarded as a hardworking and committed leader who dedicated his life to serving the people of Maharashtra. Recalling his deep understanding of administrative matters and strong grassroots connections, the Prime Minister said Pawar worked tirelessly to empower the poor and marginalised, and was truly a leader of the masses. He also conveyed condolences to all families affected by the crash.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla remembered Pawar as a seasoned public figure whose long political career was marked by meaningful contributions to public welfare through cooperative institutions and development initiatives in the state.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah termed Pawar’s death a personal loss for himself and the NDA family. Expressing heartfelt condolences, Shah said the entire alliance stands firmly with the bereaved family during this difficult time.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said Pawar remained committed to the progress and prosperity of Maharashtra throughout his public life, and was known for his compassion and unwavering dedication to public service. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also expressed deep sadness over Pawar’s tragic and untimely death.
BJP National Vice President and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda said he was shocked and saddened by the aircraft accident near Baramati. Describing the loss of Ajit Pawar and others on board as deeply distressing, Panda offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi also condoled the untimely demise of the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister.
Tributes continued to pour in as the nation mourned the passing of a senior leader whose influence on Maharashtra’s political and cooperative landscape spanned decades.
