A shocking incident unfolded on Thursday at RA Studios in Mumbai’s Powai area, where a man identified as Rohit Arya allegedly held several children hostage under the pretext of conducting acting auditions. The police later arrested Arya after an intense rescue operation that left the city stunned.
The Disturbing Ordeal
According to reports, Rohit Arya had been organising fake auditions at the studio for the past few days. On Thursday morning, nearly 100 children arrived for the supposed audition. While he allowed around 80 to leave, he confined about 15 to 20 children inside the studio, locking the doors from within.
In a series of videos shared with the media, Arya claimed he had staged the incident deliberately. “I am not a terrorist,” he said, adding that he wanted to die by suicide and that “others” were involved in his plan. He also threatened to set the studio ablaze if his demands were not met.
Swift Police Action
Mumbai Police and the fire brigade rushed to the scene and managed to apprehend Arya after negotiating with him. The children were safely rescued, and no injuries were reported.
The chilling incident has raised serious concerns about the safety protocols surrounding child auditions and the need for stricter verification measures in the entertainment industry.
