The BJP has appointed Panda as its in-charge for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, where it is a partner to the AIADMK. Historically, the BJP has remained a marginal player in Tamil Nadu, focusing on strengthening its alliance with the AIADMK to challenge the ruling DMK.
Earlier this year, Panda served as the BJP’s poll in-charge for the Delhi Assembly elections, overseeing the party’s successful return to power in the Union Territory after more than 25 years.
Alongside Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, Assembly polls are scheduled next year in Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry, making Panda’s role in Tamil Nadu strategically important for the party’s southern campaign.
