The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday launched ECINET, a comprehensive digital platform offering all election-related information and services, at the India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM) 2026 being held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

The three-day international conference, scheduled from January 21 to 23, brings together Election Management Bodies (EMBs) from across the world to deliberate on democratic practices and technological innovations in election management.

ECINET was conceptualised by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar along with Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi. The development of the platform was announced in May 2025.

Speaking at the launch, CEC Gyanesh Kumar said ECINET has been developed strictly in accordance with existing laws and is available in 22 scheduled languages and English. He invited EMBs across the globe to collaborate with India in developing similar digital platforms suited to their legal frameworks and linguistic needs.

Election Commissioner Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu said ECINET would enhance public trust in election management bodies by improving transparency, enabling better monitoring of functions, and facilitating faster decision-making and information dissemination.

Election Commissioner Dr. Vivek Joshi noted that IICDEM 2026 provides a valuable opportunity for EMBs to learn from global best practices, particularly in the adoption of technology and digital innovations.

Highlights

ECINET is the world’s largest electoral service platform, integrating over 40 applications and portals of the Election Commission of India into a single, seamless digital interface. The platform has been developed in full compliance with the Constitution of India, the Representation of the People Acts, 1950 and 1951, the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, and the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961.

The platform connects citizens, candidates, political parties and election officials, offering services such as voter registration, electoral roll search, application tracking, “Know Your Candidate”, connection with election officials, booking calls with Booth Level Officers (BLOs), e-EPIC download, polling trends, and grievance redressal, among others.

The beta version of ECINET was successfully piloted during the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Prior to the final launch, feedback and suggestions were invited from citizens to refine the platform.

Since its beta release, ECINET has processed over 10 crore registration forms, averaging about 2.7 lakh forms per day. More than 11 lakh BLOs are registered on the platform, and over 150 crore documents have been digitised during the SIR process. The platform also enables seamless monitoring of ground-level election functionaries.
