New CCTV footage has emerged showing the exact moment of the explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening, revealing a powerful blast that ripped through a busy stretch near the Red Fort metro station.
The footage shows vehicles moving slowly along the crowded road when a sudden fireball erupts from a Hyundai i20 car, believed to be the source of the explosion. The impact damaged several nearby vehicles and caused panic in the area.
Delhi Police have registered a case under sections 16 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Kotwali Police Station.
Two doctors — Umar Un Nabi and Muzammil Shakil — are at the centre of the investigation. Umar is suspected to have been driving the car that exploded, while Muzammil was arrested in Faridabad during a joint operation by Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir Police targeting a suspected “white-collar” terror network.
