The Election Commission of India (ECI) has begun counting votes for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly Election 2025, with seat-by-seat results to be released as the process advances. Initial trends are expected around 9 am, and by evening a clear picture should emerge on whether the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) or the Mahagathbandhan is moving toward a majority.
Most exit polls have predicted a comfortable victory for the NDA, though the Opposition alliance remains hopeful of overturning these projections.
The NDA’s key constituents include the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), and Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). On the other hand, the INDIA bloc primarily comprises the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress.
Tejashwi Yadav is the chief ministerial face for the Opposition, while the NDA has not projected anyone for the top post. Nitish Kumar’s political future is also being closely watched, with speculation that he may not continue as chief minister even if the alliance wins.
In addition, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) is also contesting this election, adding another layer of interest to the race.
