Airlines, including Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet, on Friday issued travel advisories warning passengers of possible flight disruptions as dense fog and low visibility conditions continued to affect Delhi and several parts of northern India.
Air India said weather forecasts predicting dense fog over Delhi and parts of northern and eastern India could impact flight schedules and may also have cascading effects across its network. In an advisory posted on X, the airline said it had taken proactive measures to minimise disruptions and assured passengers that ground staff would assist them in case of delays or cancellations by making alternate arrangements. The airline also said eligible passengers would receive advance alerts and could reschedule their flights without additional charges or opt for a full refund.
IndiGo also issued a similar advisory early Friday, stating that passengers travelling during early morning hours may experience delays or revised timings due to fog across northern India. The airline said it is closely monitoring weather conditions and coordinating with air traffic authorities to reduce inconvenience.
SpiceJet, in a weather update, said low visibility in Delhi could affect all arrivals, departures and consequential flights.
Meanwhile, Delhi Airport said CAT III operations had been activated to allow landings in extremely low visibility, though delays were expected. The India Meteorological Department reported visibility dropping to as low as 100 metres in the early hours, with dozens of flights cancelled and hundreds delayed.
