The incident occurred near B3B Block, close to Andhra School on Professor Jogender Singh Marg. According to police, the pit had been left open in the middle of the road without any safety arrangements.
No Barricades, Warning Signs at Site
As per the FIR, there were no warning signs, reflectors, barricades, or proper lighting at the site, and no security personnel had been deployed. Police received a PCR call from a woman reporting that a motorcycle rider had fallen into a pit approximately 15 feet deep and required immediate assistance.
Upon reaching the spot, police found an unidentified man along with his motorcycle lying inside a pit measuring about 20 feet in length, 13 feet in width, and nearly 14 feet in depth. The pit had reportedly been dug as part of road work.
The injured man was rescued with the help of the fire brigade and shifted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital in a PCR vehicle. However, hospital authorities later informed the police that the victim had been declared dead.
