The Commissionerate Police on Sunday arrested five persons along with the prime accused and detained one more in connection with two separate murders which took place yesterday during Holi celebrations in Bhubanewar.
According to sources, the prime accused along with a minor has been arrested in connection with the Sahid Nagar murder case.
1 Held, 1 Detained In Sahid Nagar Murder Case
Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena informed that the main accused, Baba Guni, was apprehended from a place under Pipili police limits. A minor boy has also been detained in connection with the case.
According to the police, the murders occurred following a heated argument during Holi celebrations. There was no prior enmity between the victim and the accused persons. The altercation escalated, leading to the fatal attack.
4 Arrested In Macheswar Murder Case
Similarly, four persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the Macheswar murder case.
Sharing the details about the arrest, Bhubaneswar DCP said that four individuals, including Tanmay Behera, were arrested in connection with the case.
Investigations revealed that the killings were not premeditated but stemmed from sudden disputes.
“During the arrest, Behera reportedly attempted to evade the police by consuming Dimiri (a local wild fruit). He was taken to Mangalpur CHC for treatment and is now in police custody. Further investigations are underway,” said DCP Meena.
