Berhampur: Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) project at Khallikote in Ganjam district of Odisha has been suspended by the government on graft charges.

The district administration had recommended action against R Gyana Sundari for allegedly demanding 10 per cent commission from women self help groups (SHG) to make a bill towards the supply of 'chhatua', a ready to eat mix, officials said today.

A self help group of Sundarapur was entrusted with the task of preparing and supplying 'chhatua' to anganwardi centres in Khallikote block. The group members had complained against the CDPO to the district collector.

She also allegedly asked the group supplying the 'chhatua' to deposit the commission amount in the bank account of one of her relatives, they said.

A four-member committee led by sub-collector, Chhatrapur, conducted an inquiry and submitted its report to the district collector in February. The collector recommended to the government for disciplinary proceedings against the CDPO, they said.

"Basing on the report, the government might have taken the action against the CDPO," district social welfare officer S Sadasya said.
