Varanasi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recognised the BHU as the University with Potential For Excellence (UPE).

The University would receive a grant of Rs 50 crore from the UGC as part of this recognition, which would be utilised over the next five years, a varsity official said today.

BHU PPP cell Chairman Rajesh Sinha said 31 universities had submitted their nomination for the recognition.
