Imphal: Tension erupts in the Capital City on Monday as college teachers continued with their demonstration for the implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations.
"We demand the government to issue an order for implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations," said BS Sharma, chief of DM College Teachers’ Forum in Imphal.
The teachers' protest entered the 6th day today resulting in disruption of classes. Meanwhile, students also staged demonstration demanding immediate resumption of classes.
According to ANI, following the protest of the teachers, students of DM College of Science, Commerce & Arts also staged a protest today demanding resumption of classes.
Later, police had to fire tear shells to disperse the crowd.
"We want the authorities to resolve their (teachers') issues so that our classes can resume," said a protester while speaking to ANI.
