The Department of General Administration & Public Grievance, Govt of Odisha on Wednesday directed all government employees and retired employees to register and lodge their grievances online on the Jana Sunani (Public Grievance Redressal Portal) portal before approaching the court.
As per the order, all government employees and retired employees are to compulsorily register on the portal and lodge their complaints if any without directly going to the court. Within 30 days, the reporting officer will review and resolve the complaint; otherwise, it will automatically go to the superior officer or the District Collector.
If not resolved at the district level, the matter will then be forwarded to the departmental directorate or secretary and later to the minister and finally to the Chief Minister.
“If any government employee or retired employee goes to the court directly without following this process, then the government will approach the court to dismiss the case,” the letter read. The decision by the government has not gone well with employees.
Commenting on the issue, Bijay Malla, President, Government Employees Coordination Committee said, “We welcome this move by the government, but not even a single case has been looked into or solved whenever we have lodged it through portals. There are so many cases of 2013 till now in the High Court.”
“Such orders will only harass and be a cause of torment for employees like us. So, I request the government to reconsider their decision,” he added.
Pravat Mohanty, President of the Retired Employees Union echoed the views of Bijay and said, “If the ministers and Chief Minister talk to various ‘Sanghatans’, the issue will be solved in a few hours. However, they are just dragging it for months and years together. This is unacceptable and will not reach any conclusion.”
