New Delhi: Once the public face of Samajwadi Party, Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh on Sunday said he did not want his name to be linked with that party any longer. "I request all to stop linking my name with the Samajwadi Party. I want to forget my history with the SP," said Singh, who had a meteoric rise in politics during his 14-year stint in SP.

He was talking to reporters after being discharged from the AIIMS where he was undergoing treatment for over a month for kidney-related problems. 55-year-old Singh, who is in Independent member now, had represented the SP in the Upper House.

The SP had expelled Singh in February last year to "free" the party from "intruders" who wanted to "dent" its socialist image, charging Singh with indulging in anti-party activities by attacking the party leadership. He was arrested on September 6 in connection with his alleged role in 2008 cash-for-vote scam and given bail on humanitarian ground on October 24.
