New Delhi: To ensure completion of power projects within the stipulated time, government has taken several "corrective measures" including periodic reviews and web-based monitoring system, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

Minister of State for Power K C Venugopal said during Question Hour that the measures include augmentation of manufacturing capacity of BHEL to 20,000 MW by December, 2012. He said periodic review of issues related to supply of power equipment from BHEL by a group headed by Secretary, Heavy Industry, and formation of several new joint ventures to manufacture super critical boilers and turbine generators for thermal power plants were the other steps being taken to ensure timely completion of projects.

Venugopal said thermal power projects with the capacity of 40919.9 MW and hydro projects with capacity of 3079 MW were commissioned during the last three years.
