New Delhi/Dehradun: Budget passenger carrier SpiceJet on Monday successfully operated India's first test flight which was partially powered by bio-fuel.

A concoction of bio-fuel mixed with aviation turbine fuel powered a SpiceJet's Q400 flight which was operated on Monday.

The flight was operated from Dehradun to Delhi. It was received by the key Cabinet Ministers and airline's top management at Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal 2.

Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, "On August 10, PM Modi announced the new biofuel policy and today we have successfully implemented it in the aviation sector. It's a big achievement in aviation and clean energy sector. GST has been decreased on Biodiesel and ethanol."
