Kanpur: The body of veteran freedom fighter Captain Lakshmi Sehgal, who died here today after a brief spell of illness, would be donated to G S V M Medical College according to her last wishes, family sources said.

In accordance with Sehgal`s last wishes, her body would be donated for medical research and handed over to the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College, her daughter and noted CPI(M) leader Subhashini Ali said here.

Sehgal(97), who was part of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose`s Indian National Army, breathed her last at a private hospital at 11.20 am. Sehgal was admitted to the hospital on July 19 after she suffered a heart attack at her residence in Civil Lines area here. She was kept on life support system.
