New Delhi: A meeting of the Union Cabinet on Thursday did not discuss the Ramdev issue, even as senior Ministers were engaged in persuading the yoga guru not to go ahead with his proposed fast on June 4.

"No" was the response of Home Minister P Chidambaram when reporters asked him whether the Ramdev issue figured at the meeting.

He also refused to take any questions on the issue, saying the media should not expect "hourly" briefings on the matter. "You are running 24X7 channels. We are not doing 24X7 briefings. If necessary, there will be a briefing".

To a question whether Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran, who is in the thick of a controversy over the 2G spectrum scam, attended the Cabinet meeting, Chidambaram said he was present.

The Congress Core Group is expected to discuss the Ramdev issue in the evening.
