Heavy monsoon rains have caused rivers to swell, leading to a powerful surge of water in Balasore. As a result, the Jamughat bridge, located on the Udala-Balasore road near Kainsari, has been swept away by the strong current on Saturday.

As per reports, following heavy rainfall upstream, the Deo River overflowed significantly, submerging the bridge initially. The force of the water was so intense that the bridge was eventually washed away.

A major portion of the bridge has collapsed, and currently, water is flowing over the remaining structure at a height of around two feet.

As a result, road connectivity between Udala and Balasore has been completely cut off. Numerous vehicles and commuters are stranded on both sides of the bridge.

Local residents have alleged that the temporary bridge washed away due to the negligence by the administration.
