New Delhi: Gearing up to tackle the coming Holi festival rush in March, Northern Railway has firmed up an action plan to ensure smooth functioning of passenger services at stations during the busy festive season.

Steps are being taken to check the malpractices in reservation offices and to address complaints of passengers, a senior Northern Railway official said.

He said railway staff would be posted near ticket booking counters at all locations of reservation offices during this period to prevent touts availing passenger facilities.

Besides, squads of ticket-checking staff, along with RPF personnel, would be formed to organize surprise checks to curb the activities of anti-social elements and detect various frauds including transfer-of-ticket cases by touts.

Senior railway officers will be deputed to supervise all the reservation counters at all the locations, the staff nominated for countersigning the requisition slips and ensure availability of adequate requisition forms at all reservation offices.

"We have made arrangments for regular announcements about introduction of special trains, augmentation etc would be made for the information of users, he said.

Additional counters for reservations would be opened at the locations wherever necessary.
