Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal gave in principal approval for the setting up of 1320 MW Thermal Plant in state sector. A decision to this effect was taken by Badal in a meeting with eight-member delegation of PSEB Engineers Association led by its president Er H S Bedi, here, an official spokesman said here today.

Badal asked Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to complete various formalities like selection of site and plan of the plant, so that the construction work could be started at the earliest. Giving approval to another proposal of PSPCL for the direct recruitment of 500 SDOs, Badal directed PSPCL to conduct recruitment in a transparent manner.

While giving a hearing to various demands of the delegation relating to revision of scales, allowances and other incentives, Badal assured that their all demands would sorted out soon. On this occasion, President of PSEB Engineers Association, Er H S Bedi thanked the Chief Minister for showing concern over their various issues.

Managing Director & Chairman Power Com K D Chaudhary also assured the Chief Minister for the availability of regular and quality Power supply through out the state. He further added that in view of the Power sector reforms undertaken by the state government there would be no shortage of power in the future.
