New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday called on President Pratibha Patil against the backdrop of a cabinet reshuffle which is imminent.

Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson confined herself to saying that the meeting between the two leaders lasted for 45 minutes during which they discussed the forthcoming Parliament`s Monsoon session and current political situation.

"They also discussed various other issues of national and international importance," the spokesperson said in a statement.

The meeting comes two-day after Prime Minister had told a group of editors that a cabinet reshuffle was in the offing saying it was work in progress.

Patil is going to Hyderabad tomorrow on a week-long sojourn and speculation persisted that the proposed reshuffle will take place after her return on July eight.
