New Delhi: Pakistan High Commissioner to India Shahid Malik met Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao here on Saturday ahead of next week`s Home Secretary-level meeting between the two countries.

He is understood to have discussed the issues to be taken up in the meeting between Home Secretary G K Pillai and his Pakistan counterpart Chaudhry Qamar Zaman on March 28 and 29 on a range of issues covering terrorism and progress in 26/11 trial.

Sources said Malik met Rao in her office in the South Block and both talked about various aspects of the meeting which will be the first step in the resumption of the stalled dialogue process.

Pillai-Zaman meeting will be the first structured bilateral secretary-level meeting on counter-terrorism after Indo-Pak decision to resume comprehensive talks.

More than two years after India had suspended the composite dialogue with Pakistan in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks in November, 2008, the two sides decided in Thimphu in February to resume comprehensive dialogue on all outstanding issues.
