Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the Padma Awards for the year 2021. Padma Awards - one of the highest civilian Awards of the country, are conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
This year the President has approved conferment of 119 Padma Awards including 1 duo case (in a duo case, the Award is counted as one). The list comprises 7 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan and 102 Padma Shri Awards.
While 29 of the awardees are women, the list also includes 10 persons from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI, 16 Posthumous awardees and 1 transgender awardee.
Sculptor Sudarshan Sahoo will be conferred with the Padma Vibhushan award for the year 2021. He is among the seven who will receive the highest civilian Award. He will receive the award for his contribution in the field of art.
Rajat Kumar Kar and Nanda Prusty will get Padma Shri for their contributions in the Literature and Education.
Shanti Devi from the State will be conferred with Padma Shri for social work while Purnamasi Jani will receive Padma Shri for art.
Krushna Mohan Padhi from the State will be honoured with Padma Shri for in the medicine category.
