New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda on Monday lashed out at the opposition parties for misleading farmers over the Farm bills and said that the new farm laws will give more options to farmers.
"No farmer will ever suffer under the Narendra Modi government," he said.
The BJP government is not doing away with the earlier system. The minimum support price (MSP) has been increased under the Modi government and it will continue. The mandi system (for paddy procurement) will also continue. The new farm laws will give more options to farmers and benefit them as the restrictions on the sale of their produce have been withdrawn, said Panda to ANI.
He further said that farmers can also continue with the earlier system if they liked. Even now, procurement as per the MSP continues. In Madhya Pradesh, procurement is underway as per the MSP and a surge in the procurement, even more than Punjab, has been witnessed, he stated.
"Farmers will gradually realise that only rumours are being spread about the Farm bills. No one is withdrawing the MSP system and the new bills are only for their benefit. Farmers can never suffer under the leadership of PM Modi," the BJP national VP said.
Panda, who is also BJP's Assam in-charge, said that the popularity of PM Modi is growing with each passing day and the party's recent victory in Council polls in Assam as well as Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders in West Bengal joining the BJP are testament to the phenomenon.
