Special judge A K Singh said the allegations against Jain were serious in nature and so he did not deserve bail.

"It was difficult for the poor to buy medicines for their patients and if the medicines proved to be adulterated or fake, then it became painful for both the patients and their families," he observed.

The court had on Tuesday reserved the order for granting bail after hearing the arguments of the accused and public prosecutor.
