New Delhi: The government on Tuesday said that it has not received any report of disruption of India`s shipping movements through the Suez canals "so far" in the wake of Egyptian crisis.

A senior official in the Shipping Ministry said here that state-owned shipliner SCI has negligible operations through Suez Canal and it has not been impacted due to the crisis in Egypt.

"We have not received any report from either Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) or the maritime industry about any disruption so far," he said.

With the problems in Egypt escalating, there are fears that the crucial Suez canal link connecting the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea could be disrupted.

Meanwhile, SCI said that it carries only a small number of containers to Egyptian destinations and so far there is no disturbance in the movement there.

"As far as SCI is concerned, it only carries a small number of containers to Egyptian destinations. It has not bee impacted," SCI Chairman S Hajara said.
