Nagpur: A group of naxalites shot dead a former Dalam Commander in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, police said today.

The incident took place in Aarewada village of Bhamragarh taluka on Friday when Pawan Kumar Bhalawi (50), was proceeding towards his farm. The naxalites pumped five bullets, killing him on the spot, they said.

Bhalawi (50) who served as a Commander of Salekasa Dalam (Bhandara) for some time, was arrested along with wife Girija by Bhandara police in 1992. Later, his wife was elected to Panchayat Samiti and was serving in Gadchiroli, police added.
