In a major crackdown, Odisha Vigilance on Friday launched simultaneous raids at six locations linked to Rama Chandra Nepak, Deputy Ranger-cum-Incharge Ranger of Jeypore Forest Range, Koraput district, over allegations of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Acting on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore, the raids are being carried out by a team comprising six DSsP, five Inspectors, nine ASIs, and other supporting staff. The searches are underway at the following premises:

  1. A building constructed on paternal land at NKT Road, PR Petta, Jeypore Town, Koraput.
  2. Flat No 510 at Golden Height Residential Apartment, PR Petta, Jeypore Town.
  3. Flat No 511 at the same Golden Height Residential Apartment, PR Petta, Jeypore Town.
  4. Flat of his brother located at UMS Bhagabati Mansion, Raghunathpur Jali, Bhubaneswar.
  5. The house of his in-laws, situated at Sombar Tota in Jeypore Town.
  6. His office chamber at Jeypore Forest Range.

So far, unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 1.4 crore has been unearthed during the searches. Officials stated that the operation is still in progress and a detailed report will follow upon completion.

Odisha Vigilance continues to investigate the extent of the disproportionate assets allegedly possessed by Nepak, and further action will be based on the outcome of the ongoing searches.

Seizure So Far

Odisha Vigilance has made a major breakthrough by unearthing approximately Rs 1.4 crore in cash concealed in a secret treasury inside his Flat No. 510 at Golden Height Residential Apartment, Jeypore Town. With this, the total cash recovery has reached around Rs 1.44 crore. 

Vigilance officials have deployed currency counting machines, and the counting process is currently underway. In addition to the cash, four gold biscuits and 16 gold coins, each weighing 10 grams, have also been recovered from the premises. The exact weight and valuation of the gold are being assessed as the search continues.
