Ashwin had earlier mentioned that the sequel would begin filming towards the end of 2025. In a recent podcast appearance, the director reiterated this plan while sharing further details about the challenges ahead.

The filmmaker said he is aiming to start production on Kalki 2 by late 2025 but admitted several factors need to align.
He stated, “The actors have to come together. Some of the pre-visualized sequences and action sequences are much bigger. So it will take some time. I don’t have an exact answer. Everyone is busy."
He also stressed that the bigger challenge lies beyond filming.
“Hopefully in another 2 or 3 years, that’s what I think,” Ashwin added, pointing out that post-production is expected to take longer than the shoot itself.

The update confirms that audiences may have to wait several years before witnessing the sequel on the big screen. While the timeline suggests a release no earlier than 2027 or 2028, the scale promised by Ashwin has only heightened curiosity.
